PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (PI) with CAPABILITY MATURITY MODEL INTEGRATION (CMMI)

The purpose of Process and Product Quality Assurance (PPQA) is to provide staff and management with objective insight into processes and associated work products.*
What many people tend to overlook in implementing the practices of this CMMI process area is the fact that both processes and work products must be evaluated. If this is clearly understood, the next questions tend to be “How often do we perform evaluations?” and “How many work products do we evaluate?”
To answer these questions, the organization must look at its goals and objectives and make logical decisions. All processes should be evaluated periodically and as often as necessary for the organization to gain the insight that is needed to make good management decisions. Since a typical organization has a number of work products and limited QA staff, evaluating all work products is not practical. So criteria for selecting the specific work products to be evaluated should be devised early in the process improvement effort.

Our management consultants work with organizations like yours to establish effective QA programs that lead to higher quality processes and work products.
DOCUMENTATION AND DATA MANAGEMENT
Selection of IT systems within an organization should always be based on the information needs of the organization. But even if this is done in the initial rollout, organizational needs change and IT systems become obsolete making it necessary to continually reassess the investment in organizational assets.
It is a given . . . requirements change. IT projects begin with one set of requirements and often end with a set that contains requirements that are new or modified. So requirements management that is done well is essential to the success of the project.
An IT project will generate technical documentation and enormous amounts of data (electronic and paper) over the project's life cycle. We work with our clients to establish programs to effectively manage this documentation and data (i.e., collect, store, analyze, and report data). Projects, in turn, are able to work more efficiently and be more productive.
We develop test specifications, execute independent testing, and record and report test results to support IT projects during application testing. This support ensures that applications function properly when they are deployed into the operational environment.
We work with our clients to analyze organizational needs and to identify and define system solutions to meet those needs.
Our management consultants understand requirements management and can help your organization establish a program that works for you.
The constraints of limited resources, unrealistic deadlines, and smaller budgets impact IT projects today more than ever before. KMS Enterpriese, Inc. offers IT project support services that enable IT projects to work more efficiently, to increase productivity, to stay on schedule, and to contain costs. Our management consultants provide the solutions you need when you need them in Quality Assurance, System Analysis, Requirements Management, Documentation and Data Management, and Application Testing.
